“I am amazed to see, 8 out of every 10 youth players; with horrendous mechanics. Primarily, youth players need to learn to hit with minimal movement, after which integrating more prominent motion for striding, and a raised elbow. Additionally, coaches need to explain the purpose of elongated mechanics; here’s a clue, hitting a slow-moving mistake pitch. Too many youth players start hitting with much movement, creating poor habits such as lunging, incorrect rotation, and collapsing on the front leg; while failing to understand their lack of success against a dominant fastball.”
